Sharks vs Surge Dec 6th Preview For the first time this season, when the Sharks skate onto the rink on December 6th, they will skate against the New Jersey Surge at Inline1 in Mt. Sinai at 6pm. The Sharks will be facing a New Jersey squad made up of former NJ Stampede players including Mike Sullivan, on the Majors and Pete Maggio, who will be on defense for the Minors squad. The New Jersey Surge will also be bringing a slew of talented young rookies such as 19 year old, Dany Christ and goaltender, Tommy Rogers. After a very commanding performance against the Hartford Fireants, the Suffolk Sharks Major Team is hoping to keep up the pace they ended the 2 game series with. With incredible performances by John Lechmansky (6G, 6PTS), Rob Lopinto (2G, 2PTS) and Kenny Baldwin Jr. and Mike Prainito both tallying 1 goal and 3 assists for a total of 4 points each. As far as the Suffolk Sharks Minor Team is concerned, however, it doesn’t matter who is coming to town on December 6th, the Sharks need to pick up their game and find a way to win. The Sharks minor team, 0-1-1 in their last two, dropped a 5-4 overtime decision and a 5-3 regulation loss to the Fireants on November 1st at Inline1. A slow start, an awakening after falling behind, and a strong finishes that, in this case, just wasn’t quite good enough to secure two points in the standings. The Sharks Minor Team are still waiting to hear news about Adam Koziel. Koziel did not play most of the 2nd period of the first game and the entire second game against the Fireants. Koziel suffered a lower body injury; an MRI is scheduled during the week of November 3 – 7. Both the Suffolk Sharks and the New Jersey Surge are in their inaugural season. It is the New Jersey’s first game of the AIHL 2008-2009 season.
